Our Story
Wanderovers is a footwear brand dedicated exclusively to ergonomic design and handcrafted genuine leather craftsmanship, with a clear mission: to resolve the long-standing conflict between style and comfort for middle-aged men. Rooted in the deep love and respect three designers hold for their own families, the brand was born out of a simple yet profound observation—one that has lingered in American society for far too long.
For countless middle-aged men, finding well-fitting shoes is a constant struggle. Whether due to foot conditions, weight gain, or unique foot shapes, many are unable to find footwear that accommodates their needs. When they do, the shoes often lack style, forcing them to choose between comfort and looking their best. Every pair of Wanderovers shoes is crafted with widened and enlarged sizes and made of pure handcrafted genuine leather, designed to embrace diverse foot shapes without sacrificing aesthetics. About the designer

At 63, Felix Wood has spent over 40 years in shoe design, once serving as Design Director at Britain’s Royal Eclis Design Company. Born with flat feet and feet of different sizes, he struggled to find well-fitting shoes from a young age. As he grew older, his feet swelled and deformed, making it even harder to find suitable footwear.
What troubled him more was that many of his friends, colleagues and family members faced the same problem. Despite his success in designing countless popular shoe styles and witnessing the industry’s shift from "pursuing beauty" to "balancing comfort", he could never solve his own shoe dilemma.
At 60, Felix made a bold decision: he resigned, left London, and returned to his hometown in the US to start his own handmade shoe brand — Wanderovers, meaning "wanderers". He aimed to create shoes that let people walk freely and comfortably.
Breaking the limitations of traditional shoe lasts, he launched an adjustable last design, combining his decades of experience with his own foot troubles. He traveled the world to select soft, tough full-grain leather and insisted on "one last per person, one pair per custom", personally overseeing every handcraft process.
Three years on, Wanderovers has become a boon for people with special foot needs. At 63, Felix still devotes himself to the studio daily. For him, Wanderovers is not just a brand, but a commitment to his original intention: to let everyone have a pair of well-fitting shoes and walk freely through life.

At 37, Lucas Bennett, once Assistant Design Director at Italy’s Helenias Apparel Design Company, had a solid career in shoe design. A lifelong sports fan who dabbled in basketball, football and baseball, he turned his sneaker collection hobby into a career after college, focusing on creating stylish, unique designs that stood out in the fashion world.
A trip back to his rural Tennessee hometown changed everything. Reuniting with his father after years in Italy, Lucas was shocked by his father’s twisted, deformed feet and ankles—caused by years of farm work and ill-fitting, unsupportive shoes. Overwhelmed with guilt, he realized he’d forgotten shoe design’s core: to keep people comfortable, not just stylish.
Determined to make amends, Lucas quit his Italian job to stay with his father. He set out to design custom shoes for his father’s deformed feet—soft, supportive, and truly comfortable—spending weeks measuring, studying pressure points, and testing durable materials for pain-free wear.
Lucas’s dedication to design’s true purpose reached Felix Wood, founder of Wanderovers—a brand focused on comfort and fit for those with special foot needs. Impressed by Lucas’s sincerity and people-first philosophy, Felix formally invited him to join Wanderovers, where their values aligned.
For Lucas, the invitation was more than a job—it validated his new purpose. What started as a personal mission to comfort his father became a chance to help others, as he joined Felix to create shoes that honor craft and humanity. True design greatness, he learned, lies in comfort, not just appearance.

At 35, Sherry Claire Langley was as striking as her life. As former Chief Designer at Australia’s Rias Apparel, she had a successful career creating trendy pieces, but her comfortable, privileged life left her feeling empty and disconnected from her purpose as a designer.
A sudden call brought her back to the US: her mother was ill. Rushing home, Sherry was devastated to learn her mother needed a small toe amputation—caused by years of ill-fitting shoes that damaged her feet. In that moment, she found her true calling.
Filled with regret, she redefined her design philosophy: no longer just beauty and trend, but shoes that were stylish, comfortable, and protective. She combined her fashion eye with a focus on ergonomics and wearability.
Wanderovers founder Felix Wood heard of Sherry’s transformation and her commitment to comfortable, stylish shoes. Impressed by her sincerity, he formally invited her to join the brand, where their values aligned.
The invitation validated her new purpose. What started as a promise to her mother became a chance to help others, proving true design beauty lies in care and functionality, not just appearance.
